Cheeverstown House, based in Dublin, is a voluntary organisation,  providing a wide range of residential, respite and day services to almost 400 children and adults with an intellectual disability and to their families in Cheeverstown Centre and throughout various community locations. This includes residential places in Cheeverstown Centre; with the remaining places in houses throughout the locality.

Cheeverstown House provides a further 17 respite places as well as flexible in home support; a range of early childhood, education and day care services for children; vocational training and employment programmes for adults. Services are provided to a large extent in the Dublin South West region of the Health Services Executive; mostly in South Dublin Council Area including Tallaght.

Cheeverstown House receives state funding primarily by the Department of Health & Children through the Health Services Executive Dublin Mid Leinster region for the provision of an agreed level of service under a service agreement.

Cheeverstown House is a Voluntary Body and Registered Charity, similar to the many Non Statutory agencies in Ireland that provide services to persons with an intellectual disability.  Cheeverstown House CLG is the Company set up under the Companies Act, limited by Guarantee and not having a Share Capital, established by Cheeverstown to operate services for persons with intellectual disability. While the present services opened in 1984 related activities of Cheeverstown date back just over 100 years.

Cheeverstown House has a Board of Directors which is responsible for the overall provision of services and supports and usually meet ten times per year.  As a registered company it is governed by its Memorandum and Articles of Association and the regulations in relation to the Board of Directors, its structure, annual general meetings, accounts, audits and other related matters.
