Speech and Language Therapy

The aim of the Speech and Language Therapy services is to enable the person to achieve their full communicative potential.  The Speech and Language Therapy service is prioritised in Cheeverstown House for the following groups; children aged 0-18 years and people with eating, drinking and swallowing difficulties.

Functions

1. Individual level
The assessment, diagnosis, management and prevention of both disorders of communication and of swallowing.

2. Environmental level
Training and development of staff and families, and empowerment of service users through accessible information.

3. Policy level Service development through work with Speech and Language Therapy colleagues, with Intellectual Disability services and with services in the wider community
