Our Families & Friends

The Association of Families and Friends is a group of individuals committed to the welfare and support of service users in Cheeverstown House. We work through a committee which is elected annually at our AGM. The board of Cheeverstown House has an option to send up to three persons nominated by them to each committee meeting.

Our goal is to provide support, information and advice to families and service users.

Many members of the committee are parents who are well placed to understand problems that are encountered. The committee is also in a position to arrange appropriate advice from professionals if necessary.

Representing Families

We are separate from the running of Cheeverstown House, and we can advocate for, and represent all service users and their families with a strong voice. We meet on a regular basis with the chief of executive of Cheeverstown House to discuss the views and concerns of parents.

Who can join?

You are welcome to join the association if you are

  • A parent
  • A sibling
  • A friend of the family
  • A friend or relative of a service user
  • Wishing to support our work.

The annual fee is 10 Euro per family. Some individuals may be in a position to contribute a higher amount which would be most welcome. However we appreciate that some families may be unable to contribute at this time. Even so, they are most welcome to register as members of the association. The more members we have, the greater the strength of the association. Membership subscriptions are our main source of funding. All funds raised are used to enhance the lives of service users as deemed appropriate by the committee. The Bingo session, which is held every Monday night, is run in co-operation with and in aid of Cheeverstown House.

Thank you to all of those who renewed their membership or made a donation to the Association of Families and Friends of Cheeverstown House
