The Occupational therapy service aims to support people and their carers in the varied activities of everyday life and to maximise a persons independence and participation in the areas of self care, leisure and work in order to enhance quality of life.
The Occupational Therapists work with both children and adults.
When a person is referred to OT, the Occupational Therapist assesses:
The Person
The person’s individual strengths & needs, goals, preferences, culture
The Environment
Where the person takes part in the activity, the interaction with the carer, other people in the environment.
The Activity (occupation)
The steps involved in order to complete the activity.
