A nutrition and dietics service under management of the Department of Nutrition & Dietics at Tallaght Hospital, has been provided to Cheeverstown since 2001.
A Dietician is a health professional who is qualified to give accurate advice and information on all aspects of nutrition and diet.
The Dietician provides a service to individuals with a variety of conditions including:
- Undernutrition
- Eating, drinking & swallowing difficulties
- Nutritional Deficiencies
- Obesity
- Gastrointestinal problems such as constipation
- Service users requiring enteral feeding.
The Dietician works as part of the multi-discipliary team, as well as working closely with service users and their parents/carers.
Dietic support is provided to the Eating, Drinking & Swallowing Clinic (EDS). This is a multidisciplinary clinic run by Dietetics, Speech & Language Therapy and Occupational Therapy. The EDS team assess service users with eating, drinking and swallowing difficulties which may have implications for nutrition and safety affecting general health.
