Early Services

The Early Services team provides excellent individualised services to families and their child. Information and guidance is also provided on services available in Cheeverstown House and in the local community for parents and families during the early development of their child.

The Child’s Potential is realised through the support of an expert team who specialise in the field of early childhood development. This team may consist of Early Services Coordinator, Social Workers, Psychologists, Speech & Language Therapist, Physiotherapist, Paediatrician, Child Psychiatrist, Clinical Nurse Specialist, Early Childhood Programme Facilitator (home teacher), Occupational Therapist, Music Therapist, Dietician and Outreach Facilitator.

Pre-School Services (3-6 years)

Cheeverstown pre-school is called Tir na nÓg.  Tir na nÓg offers a community based service to children aged 3-6 years with an intellectual disability. This service is flexible and adaptable in the programme that it delivers, and the staff work in partnership with families and other members of the multidisciplinary team to support the children, with an emphasis on the holistic development of the children. This service works to be individualised and innovative, using the principles of Personal Outcome measures in their response to the needs of the child and their families.

Children's Services (5-18 years)

Within the centre in Templeogue, Cheeverstown runs a day programme for children who require higher levels of support due to more complex needs. 

Cheeverstown House provides individualised programmes and activities for each child attending the service, using the principles of Personal Outcome Measures and Individual Educational Plans to respond to the individual holistic potential of each child. This service also provides support to children and their families outside of the school terms.

Cheeverstown School provides education and care for children with severe and profound intellectual disabilities aged 4 to 18 year.  It operates under the patronage of the Governing Body of Cheeverstown and is funded by the Department of Education and Science.
Cheeverstown School is presently located in Cheeverstown Centre and plans are at an advanced stage with the Department of Education & Science for the provision of a new school in the local community.

Ballycullen Children's Residence (Naomh Mhuire)

The children’s residential centre at Ballycullen (Naomh Mhuire) located in the heart of the community provides a residential home to children under eighteen years of age. It provides a family type atmosphere for children and promotes the full participation of families in all aspects of the child’s life.

Ballycullen (Naomh Mhuire) aims to provide a safe, happy, nurturing child-centred home for children. It respects the individuality of each child, addressing his/her unique educational, developmental, medical, social and emotional needs through an individualised programme of care and development.

Children's Respite Service

This service provides a short break for families in the knowledge that their child is cared for in a safe and secure environment. A comprehensive and responsive respite service is provided for children and their families at Beeches located at our centre in Templeogue. This service is organised and planned with our families, social work department and staff from the respite service to ensure that the children gain a positive and caring experience during their time away from home.
