Costcutters, Taylor’s Lane, newest staff member is Nicolas Goodies from Rathfarnham. Nicolas has completed a training and employment programme with Cheeverstown Employment Support Service. Cheeverstown is a voluntary organisation that provides a wide variety of services and training to children and adults with intellectual disabilities through our various locations in Dublin.
“Nicolas Goodie joined our team here in August 2012, as a quiet, reserved young man. In the following months we have seen Nicolas grow into his role as a team player and a key figure for us in the shop, assisting us to serve the community. His contribution has been immense and added massively to our family atmosphere. I believe once he realises that we are a family run shop here at Massey’s he began to come out of hi shell and is now a vital part of our shop.
Nicolas was key to us winning store of the year award and it is down to his consistency in his jobs and tasks. We hope to see Nicolas continue on his role to help us achieve these targets again in the coming years.
It is comforting in these hard recessionary times to have the warm and uplifting spirit of Nicolas every day as he comes to work. He comes in with a smile on his face and does not let any member of staff or community pass him without asking them how they are. HE never misses a day and often pops in on his days off to say hello and greets us with his usual beaming smile.
Nicolas is getting more familiar with the community as he spends more time with us here and more time with the local customers. Cheeverstowns supported employment programme is a fantastic initiative and we are only and we were only delighted to greet it with open arms when we first heard about it.
I would employer any family business owner to open their eyes in these hard times to what really matters which is not only serving your community but supporting your community. In working alongside James (James Jones, Job Coach) and Cheeverstown it has opened our eyes to the fact that it is not all about business but giving back as well to the community as a whole”.
-Aaron Massey. Owner, Costcutter Taylor’s Lane
“I love my job in Costcutter I walk to work on my own. I like acting packing the shelves and earning my own money to buy the things that I want. Aaron is a great boss and all the staff in Costcutter are my friends. We has great fun at the Christmas Party last year”
